Where can I view adoptable pets? You can view our adoptable cats online on our website and Petfinder. We update their availability in real-time. If you see them, they are still available for adoption.
-
How long does it take to process an adoption?Once received, we process most applications within 48 hours.
-
What is the adoption process for cats?Once you have found a cat you want to adopt, you will fill out our adoption form. If approved, the cat's foster caretaker will reach out to you to set up a time to meet the cat. A virtual meeting may be scheduled if you are outside of our area. If your application has been approved and you are ready to adopt, please bring a carrier when you meet your cat. No cats are allowed to be transported without being in a cat carrier. Our adoption fees are $75 for one cat under the age of eight months, $50 for cats over eight months old, $75 for bonded pairs, and $125 for two cats. Cats will be spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines, socialized, and healthy.

Do I need an appointment to see a pet?Yes. Once you have found a cat you want to adopt, you will fill out our adoption form. If approved, the cat's foster caretaker will reach out to you to set up a time to meet the cat. A virtual meeting may be scheduled if you are outside of our area. We also offer in-person Adoption Events on the first Friday of every month from 5 PM-8 PM at L&L Pets in Emporia, KS.
-
Do you do out-of-state adoptions?Yes. The adoption process is the same for all adopters. The only difference with an out-of-state adoption is that a virtual meeting MUST occur before the adopters pick up the cat(s).
-
Can I place a hold on any of your adoptable pets?A hold can be placed on any officially adopted cat (s) (approved application + adoption fee paid). We will hold the cat up to 10 days after the adoption day for no additional cost. A holding fee of $5/week starting the day of adoption will occur if the cat(s) are picked up more than 10 days after the adoption. Adopted cats cannot be held for more than six weeks without board approval.
-
I have another pet at home. Can I bring them to meet the cat(s) I want to adopt? We do not advise cat meet and greets. Instead, our foster caretakers will discuss the best way to introduce your new cat to your current pet(s) in the home.
-

-
Do I need to plan for any other expenses for my pet other than my adoption fee?Our adopters are expected to bring a cat carrier when they pick up their pet. At home, we recommend having a litter box, bowls, cat food, and cat toys. Additional items include a cat tree, cat bed, and collar. We encourage adopters to speak with their cat's foster caretaker to find out what food the cat eats. This will allow you to slowly transition your pet to a new food, avoiding stomach issues.
-
What happens if I need to return the pet that I adopted? Not all adoptions are the best fit once they get to their new home. We require all animals adopted from the Street Cats Club to be returned to us if they will no longer live in your home. Please contact us at info@streetcatsclub.org to begin that process.
